Slowly,
step by step,
he moved toward the stairs.
They twisted endlessly.
The lights blinked one after another,
as if watching,
as if following him.
He was the last one.
His breath came in sharp gasps.
Something shattered behind him.
He didn’t look back.
He just started running.
Two steps at a time,
he climbed desperately.
No footsteps followed him—
yet a terrifying laughter filled the stairwell,
wrapping itself around every step.
From above,
the stairs,
the lamps,
all sank into absolute darkness.
The blackness swallowed the ground beneath his feet.
Something like fog—
but black.
He could no longer see his knees,
let alone the steps.
His chest burned.
Sweat soaked his body.
He tried to move faster,
faster—
But the stairs never ended.
His foot slipped on the edge of a step.
He fell hard.
When he tried to stand,
the darkness closed in around him—
and took him whole.
